One of PRUDENT’s key objectives is to develop policy recommendations and tools that promote behaviorally informed policy design and implementation.
Our partner Green & Digital is leading the policy work in PRUDENT.
They will first analyse the current EU policy framework, which includes the CAP 2023-2027, the relevant National CAP Strategic Plans 2023-27 (CSPs), and the European Green Deal.
This encompasses the Farm to Fork Strategy, Biodiversity Strategy 2030, Forest Strategy 2030, Bioeconomy Strategy, Fit for 55 legislative package, EU zero pollution action plan, and circular economy action plan.
Their focus will be on environmental, agricultural, food, forestry, climate, and bio-economy policies that address sustainability goals in the agriculture and forestry sectors.
This will be done to identify policy gaps in promoting sustainable agricultural and forestry practices at European, national and regional levels, as well as needs per farming/forestry systems and market segments across the 4 Use Cases.
Afterwards, policy tools will be developed to assist policymakers throughout the policy cycle in designing effective policy support instruments. They will be co-defined and co-created so to maximize their ownership and usefulness.
A policy toolbox will be created, including 5 policy briefs on:
- policy actions to promote green nudges towards sustainable agricultural and forestry practices tested in the Use Cases
- policy actions to promote behavioral shifts towards smart technologies in agriculture and forestry
- policy actions to promote innovative green nudges based on different farmer/forester segments
- policy actions to promote social innovations and business strategies successfully applied in the UCs
- policy actions to engage multiple stakeholders in co-creating innovative nudging solutions
Finally, a Guide for Policy Design will be provided to establish a road map for innovative and efficient green nudges, supporting policymakers at regional, national, and EU levels. The Guide will serve as a vehicle for delivering evidence-based policy advice and raising awareness about green nudging solutions in the agriculture and forestry value chains.
